take him jugging for catfish - tie a hook on a piece of fishing string and tie the string to a jug , put a nightcrawler on it and throw it in the water . use several at a time . kids love doing this .

sorry I didnt see this when you asked   Smiley
what I have found best is the crappie and perch fishing when trying to get the kids on fish. they will bite pretty regular and kids get to try to get it in the boat, thats a blast. you done the right thing, get a fishing report because the fish are moving and if your in the right place it can be awsome. right now perch are suspended in deeper water, still hungry but not where they were. surface temp is about 40 now may have droped more since it snowed. the shallow water has tempeture swings in day and night so they are hit and miss. Catfish are always good in the winter but you have to slow everything down. smaller bait, slower drift/troll
stripers are also biting all winter and will take off near spring. dont put that boat up  8)pirates life is year round!!
Capt Dave...you know where to find me Grin

here's what I caught from badin 2009

Man that is some cold water. Where were you fishing? The main channel or in a cove?
